As a child, I was constantly surrounded by fantastical characters and the whimsical worlds they inhabited. These characters and their worlds had a creative impact on me in a way that I never got over. As I eventually became an illustrator, I worked in a way in that mirrored what I grew up loving-- I spent my time crafting characters and their environments. I was about halfway through college when I discovered Japan’s character obsessed pop-culture, and I was done for. Their character saturated culture melded perfectly with the artistic vision I had been working with, and ever since then my work has focused on a marriage of ideals from both eastern and western interpretations of character design. My work is characterized by bright colors, strong use of symmetry, simplified shapes, and an intimate understanding and appreciation of the visual aesthetic of cuteness.
