Ryan Terrell is a Cleveland, Ohio- based Artist, born and raised in NE Ohio. Ryan attended Kent State University and enjoys the outdoors, music, fine food and is busy working in his Tremont studio year around.
My artwork takes view of social, political and cultural issues. But sometimes is just meant to please the eye, and create its own statement for each viewer. In my work, I use mostly classic imagery or familiar concepts to connect with the viewer, these designs are easily accepted, and generate different and unique feelings for every individual. My work reproduces familiar visual designs and I arrange them into new conceptually pieces.
While I use a variety of materials and processes in each project, my works are linked by recurring color and shading and a “classic” subject matter. I enjoy highlighting the normal routine of life…because we all know there is no “normal.” The subject matter of each body of work determines the materials and the forms of the work. Each project often consists of multiple works, often in a set of series, grouped around specific themes and meanings. During research and production new areas of interest arise and lead to my next body of work. As the artist I have my own feelings for every piece, but the true meaning of my work is to be special for all viewers, people have the power to create a story, or a feeling from my work.
